VerifyDocs

About VerifyDocs

Practical tools that help you assess a document before you trust it — built with a clear, honest view of their limits.

Our mission

Every day people are asked to trust documents they cannot easily check — an offer letter, a certificate, a scanned ID, an invoice. Most are genuine, but verifying them usually means specialist knowledge or slow manual review. VerifyDocs exists to make that first pass fast, accessible and free, so anyone can spot obvious problems and know when to look closer.

We combine several practical checks in one place: reading text from scans with OCR, validating the format of common identifiers, inspecting images for signs of editing, and scoring certificates on multiple signals. Individually each is useful; together they give you a well-rounded, preliminary sense of whether a document deserves more scrutiny.

What we do
  • Extract text from documents and images (OCR).
  • Validate ID number formats and checksums.
  • Flag possible image tampering with metadata and ELA.
  • Score certificates on structural and textual signals.
What we don't do
  • We are not a government or official verification service.
  • We do not query government identity databases.
  • We do not confirm an ID belongs to a specific person.
  • We do not provide legal proof of authenticity.

The team

VerifyDocs is built and maintained by a small, independent team of engineers and writers with backgrounds in web security, document processing and product design. We work in the open where we can, publish practical guides on our blog, and iterate based on the feedback we receive from people who use the tools every day.

How we stay free

The core tools are free to use. To keep them that way, we display advertising in clearly marked areas of the site. Ads are placed away from buttons and interactive controls, and we never obscure a result behind an advertisement. You are always in control of optional cookies through our consent banner, and you can read exactly what we collect in our Privacy Policy.

Our principles

Transparency first
We are explicit about what each tool can and cannot tell you. A preliminary check is never presented as official verification.
Privacy by default
Files are processed for the check you request and are not stored or shared without your consent. We collect as little as possible.
Genuinely useful
Every feature has to earn its place by helping people make a better-informed decision, not by adding noise.
