How to Turn Your Images into Engaging GIFs Online

In the age of short attention spans, motion catches the eye. While videos can be heavy and require users to click "play," Animated GIFs autoplay natively across almost all social media platforms, messaging apps, and email clients.

Creating a GIF doesn't require complex video editing software. You can easily sequence a series of static images (JPGs or PNGs) into an engaging animation right in your browser.

When Should You Use Image-Based GIFs?

Creating a GIF from Images

  1. Prepare Your Images: Ensure all the images you want to use have the same dimensions. This prevents the GIF from jumping or cropping weirdly during playback.
  2. Use a GIF Maker: Open an Image to GIF converter tool.
  3. Upload in Order: Select your images. The order you select them usually determines the sequence.
  4. Set the Speed: Adjust the frame delay (how long each image is shown). A delay of 500ms means half a second per image.
  5. Generate and Download: Hit convert and save your new animated GIF.

A Note on File Size

GIFs are a very old format and can result in surprisingly large file sizes if you use too many frames or high-resolution images. Keep your animations brief and size the images appropriately for the web (usually under 1000px width) before converting.
